Obituary for David James Jackson

David James Jackson
JACKSON, DAVID JAMES – Owner Operator of Commonwealth Motors
Passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Friday, June 15, 2018 in his 87th year. He is survived by his soulmate and love of his life for the past 37 years, Janis Salter. Loving father of Brenda Matheson, and the late Amanda Jackson. Step father of Jody Virgin (Rob), and Amanda Baldwin. Lovingly remembered by his son-in-law Wayne Bauer. Loved grandfather of Jennifer Tennisco, Syvannah Virgin, Austin Andrady, Sierra Virgin and the late Matthew Tennisco. Dear brother of the late Geoffrey Jackson. A memorial service will be held at NEWCASTLE UNITED CHURCH on Friday June 22nd with visitation from 1:00 – 2:00 service at 2:00.
David had a lifelong passion for Race cars, British cars, skiing and aviation. He used his talents as a mechanic to volunteer with the Handley Halifax NA337 restoration project at the Trenton RCAF base which for him was a labour of love. He was also an avid photographer and utilized those talents to document the restoration process for the museum with his photography.
If desired, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Air Force Museum of Canada – Building Fund - https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/10323, ‘The home of Halifax NA337’, or a charity of your choice. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.newcastlefuneralhome.com
