Condolences

Condolence From: John Harris
Condolence: To Janis and family

When I look at my Healey today I always think of Dave who I first met 54 years ago. He survived my Morris Minor, Austin Mini and Healey days and I have missed him since he closed up shop a few years ago. He was always willing to share his knowledge, lend me a special tool I needed and would pick up spare parts for me at Austin Motors in Toronto. We shared stories and passed technical information back and forth to each other. He always had time to gab when I dropped into Commonwealth on the way home from work. Sometimes and most often I just dropped in for a visit and watch him tune a Healey, Jag or Cooper S. I have some of the treasures, books and technical literature he passed onto me and still use the information to this day. He was an icon of British Automobiles. When he closed up shop in the evenings you had better get onto another subject because by the end of the day he was on to something else. RIP Dave, the world needs more of Dave Jackson not fewer.

Condolence From: Greg Murphy
Condolence: To Dave’s family. My sincere condolences.
I first met Dave in Oshawa at Commonwealth Motors. He shared his knowledge and passion of British automobiles with me too. I remember him lending me a book on driving the mini, which I read and practiced chapter by chapter. When I returned the book, we shared even more stories and passions... I was hooked.
Dave had been a Mini Wizard in my books and I too will miss him.

Condolence: I can go back 53 years of knowing Dave, all the time that has passed I will always remember his love of British autos between business hours. But once the work day was done you better pick another topic . . . skiing . . . aircrafts . . . Dave always brought a smile to my face and I will miss him coming up to my place in Hampton to see Daniel and myself. Rest in peace Dave, we'll see you around my next corner.

Condolence: Man, I am going to miss you until the day I go. Who am I going to tell huge racing lies to now? The loss of your detailed knowledge, & fantastic memory of automotive minutae on British petrol-fired contraptions, is hard to calculate, never mind your wry sense of humor. It's been 55 years of chuckles: it never failed to break me up when you would answer the phone through clenched teeth and say "What do you want now?". I can honestly say those are the only instances when I appreciated Call Display.

See ya later, buddy.

My condolences to his family. Dave's passing leaves a huge hole in a lot of his friends' hearts.

Condolence: Terribly sorry to hear about the death of “Dave” - I met Dave a number of years ago, he was always generous and kind with his words, time and knowledge - I was lucky to have him around as I navigated through a number of British Cars and Car Parts. I will miss him.

Condolence: Very sorry to hear of Dave's passing. Dave spent a lot of time with me at his shop over 30 years ago. He gave me his time and experience and I am very grateful to have known Dave. His passion and love of motorized objects is one of the reasons I am in the automotive trade today.
